In 1999, under Superintendent Chuck Kortz, the idea for the current driving range and practice facility came into being. Physical Education teachers John Hewes and Anne Dapolito assisted Mr. Kortz in securing a several thousand-dollar grant from the USGA in order to construct the facility and equip it. Capital Project funds were also used. Since then, district funds have taken over to keep the facility running. It is maintained by Community Volunteers and NRW Grounds crew. A Range Coordinator is in place to oversee and coordinate daily operations. Any questions about the range can be directed to the current coordinator, Anne Dapolito.
This facility is open from mid-April to October 31st as the weather dictates. Hours of operation are from early morning until dusk. It is available to both NRW P.E. classes and golf teams as well as the community. It is located on the eastern end of Buchanan Road behind the soccer and varsity baseball fields. The cost to rent range balls is five dollars.
Everyone is asked to follow the posted rules and be considerate of neighbors and any volunteers and grounds crew who may be performing daily maintenance activities.
An annual PGA Golf Clinic that is free to the public usually occurs on the third Sunday of May.
